THE ART OF BALLET
Ballet is essential. It is the basis of all Dance Disciplines.
The basic principles and rules of ballet have remained constant, but over the years differences in quality, temperament, and emphasis have created different methods of teaching, producing styles with different “accents”. The most prevalent methods today are; Russian, Cecchetti, RDA (Royal Academy of Dancing), Soviet (Vaganova), Bournonville, and American. Here at CCS the faculty is trained on a syllabus developed in accordance with the methods of Agrippina Vaganova. The system stresses the creation of lightness and charm coming from all aspects of the body. In ballet you must go through all forms of exercise in a specific order to teach you how to use and develop the muscles and your body properly. Every exercise has a beginning, middle and an end; just like projects and learning situations one faces in life. All dance training will never be wasted, for it nurtures good breathing action, coordination, poise, discipline, quick reaction, memory, stamina, and an air of self-confidence and presence. All these qualities are important to young people setting out in life, as well as those already on the journey.
